Cantor Elias Roochvarg eroochvarg@templeisraelnc.org
Elias Roochvarg has been the Cantor of Temple Israel since August 1995. A native of Newark, New Jersey, he earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from UNC-Chapel Hill, and his Masters Degree in voice from Boston University. He received his cantorial training at the Institute of Religion in New York and spent three years at Hebrew Union College's Jerusalem campus, the last two of which he served as Cantor and Music Director. Cantor Roochvarg previously served as Cantor for 15 years at Congregation Beth Israel in Owings Mills, Maryland. He has performed and lectured widely at venues including The Smithsonian Institution. He and his wife Linda, have three children, Aaron, Miriam and Michael.

Assistant Rabbi
Rabbi Noam Raucher joined Temple Israel in July 2011. Originally from Hamden, CT, he graduated from the American Jewish University in May 2011. He also attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY where he earned his Bachelor of Arts with a major in Judaic Studies. Temple Israel is pleased to have Rabbi Raucher as a part of the community, as he starts this new chapter in his life.

Rabbi Murray Ezring rabbiezring@templeisraelnc.org
Rabbi Murray Ezring has been the spiritual leader of Temple Israel since the Summer of 1994. A native of Rock Island, Illinois, he received his Liberal Arts Degree in History and Social Studies from the University of Illinois. Rabbi Ezring received his MA and ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS), taking his first pulpit in Oakhurst, New Jersey for ten years, followed by six years in Boca Raton, Florida. Rabbi and his wife, Barbara, have two daughters, Aviva and Tami; and two sons, Ron and Gil.
