TI Adult Education Speakers
Stimulate your mind this spring at Temple Israel! The
Adult Education committee will bring you three academic
speakers through a generous grant from the Charles H.
Revson Foundation and the Center of Jewish Studies at
UNC Chapel Hill. Below is the events as scheduled:

Film lovers can hear
Sharon Yemer, professor of Modern Hebrew and Israeli
Culture at UNC CH, present "Ethnic Identities in Israeli
Cinema." Yemer's work as a director/producer of
documentaries on the aftermath of the 1993 Oslo Peace
accord and Polish Jewry, as well as his scholarship on
Identity, Place and Subversion in Contemporary Mizrahi
Cinema in Israel is sure to enthrall you.

Rosa Perelmutter will enchant you with a Latina
perspective. Born in Havana, Cuba, the associate
professor of Spanish at UNC CH will present, "Jews in
Cuba, Then and Now." Her knowledge of Spanish American
Literature, Contemporary Spanish American narrative, and
Latino literature will broaden your perspective of
Jewish culture.

Professor Siu Challons-Lipton,
D. Phil, Chair of the Art Department at Queens
University will speak on "Contemporary Art." Challons-Lipton
holds a doctorate in Art History from Oxford University,
has taught at University of South Carolina, and most
recently has transformed the Art Department at Queens
with exciting new programming. Her knowledge and energy
will inspire you this spring.
